Camping Around the Big Ten

Hotels can book up fast, and although you’ll often have to travel a little further out of town, camping offers a great alternative. Big Ten country is made up of beautiful forests, lakes, rivers, rolling hills, and even some mountains; all of which provide recreational activities for those who would like to experience what the outdoors of the Big Ten has to offer, such as hiking, fishing, or boating. The fall air is crisp and clear, providing perfect weather for that crackling campfire. Plus, camping tends to offer a certain camaraderie amongst campers, where you’ll feel like your tailgating all weekend long!  Below is a list of campgrounds around the Big Ten. Most offer both RV and tent camping, with modern facilities and electrical hook-ups. Click on each individual campground for more details. While you’re planning a camping trip, check out these great places to stock up on foods.

About: Heather Blackmon-doForno

As a member of the Ohio State University Marching Band, I quickly grew to appreciate the dedication and pride each Big Ten Marching Band exhibits, as well as the traditions, history and culture of each school they represent. Being a passionate world traveler, my trips to Big Ten schools have always involved an effort to go beyond the game, scoping out the best local places to eat, delving into local history, viewing the campus architecture and learning about quirky folklore.
