Marching Illini Show Preview

This Saturday, the Fighting Illini will take on the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech under the lights at Memorial Stadium. With a 7 p.m. kickoff, this night game will easily be one of the most energetic of the season for the fans, as well as the Marching Illini.
“The fans have all day to tailgate and the band has a later rehearsal time so they feel more relaxed, thus resulting in more energy at game time,” said Professor Barry Houser, director of the Marching Illini.
Much of this energy will be showcased at halftime when the band performs a superhero-themed show, inspired by the number of superhero movies that have been released in the past year.
“Since the theme is something relevant to the present times, I thought it would be a lot of fun to do this show—while revisiting some of the classic superheroes along the way,” Houser said.
The band will perform music from Superman, Spiderman and Batman soundtracks.
