NITTANYVILLE

As game day approaches, students plan to score the best seats in the house of “General Beaver”-the first two rows of the student section. According to ESPN Magazine, the PSU Student Section has been #1 in the country since 2008. But to secure these coveted seats, especially for the biggest games like Michigan and Ohio State, students camp outside of Gate A at the stadium for the week in what has been dubbed “Nittanyville” (formally known as “Paternoville”, after former PSU Head Coach, the late Joe Paterno). From tents to teepees, from people cooking pulled pork sandwiches to someone carting back piles of McDonald’s Big Macs for the group, this humungous campsite acts more like a week-long student tailgate. And Nittanyville (“The Ville” for short) residents expect the unexpected: from celebrity appearances, to a pep talk from coaches. For more information, check out the club’s website.
