Short North
OSU is about 2.5 miles north of downtown Columbus, bridged together by a section of High Street called the Short North district. Adorned with metal arches (replicas of the early 20th century wooden arches that once brought electric power to the street cars), the Short North is home to an eclectic array of art galleries, boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Check out the Gallery Hop on the first Saturday of every month when everything stays open late (at least 10pm). Galleries showcase new exhibit openings and live music flows.

South Campus Gateway
This stretch of High Street along the east side of campus  is full of  bars, restaurants, a cinema complex and the OSU Bookstore/Barnes & Noble. Additionally, all along High Street, from Lane Avenue in the north to King Avenue in the south, you will find a variety of retail.

German Village
On the south edge of downtown Columbus sits historic German Village. Settled by German immigrants in the early-1800′s, German Village was added to the National Registrar of Historic Places in 1974. Originally called “die alte sud ende,” (“the old south end,”) it is a quaint residential neighborhood made up of exquisitely restored brick homes with lush gardens and wrought-iron fences, lined along brick-paved streets. Centered along Third Street, and on the tiny streets surrounding it, you will find locally owned artisan craft shops, the 32-room Book Loft, art and glass galleries and Schmidt’s Fudge Haus.

The Market at 15th & High
