ANN ARBOR LANDMARKS

Ann Arbor Fairy Doors
Downtown Ann Arbor
In the early ‘90’s, tiny doors –opening into imaginary fairy homes–started appearing around downtown Ann Arbor. The doors are a delightful quirk to visitors and locals alike.
You can find a map of where to search for the fairy doors on the website. Read an interview with the fairy door artist on NPR here.

Coach and Four Barber Shop
806 S. State Street
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

This isn’t “shopping”, but it warrants a mention and makes for great ‘browsing’!  For over 35 years, barber Jerry Erickson has been cutting hair on State Street. If you get a chance and need a cut (men or women)–or even if you don’t need a cut– pop in to take a look at the walls covered in hockey memorabilia and taxidermied animals; and meet the man who cut Bo Schembechler’s hair. Other regular clients include basketball coach John Beilein, athletic director Bill Martin and hockey coach Red Berenson, to name a few. ESPN is always on, and there’s free beer in the fridge.
Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri, 8:30am-5:30pm; Wed, 8:30am-8pm; Sat, 8:30am-3pm
