Drumline Step Show
90 minutes before kick-off, the UM Drumline marches onto the steps of Revelli Hall to pump up the crowd that gathers around for this pre3game warm-up. The entire UM Marching Band then joins the Drumline, parading down Hoover St. to Greene St., eventually stopping to perform “The Victors” for tailgaters outside of Michigan Stadium.

Business School Tailgate Bus
Head over to the Fingerle Lumber Company parking lot across from Ebel Field at Hill St. and Fifth Ave. north of the Stadium, and look for the battered maize and blue school bus, sporting giant speakers and a rooftop dance floor. “The Bus” picks up business school members and drags them to breakfast at 6am at Angelo’s (they open early just for them).  After that, it’s on to the pregame tailgate party of about 1,000 people. Tailgating at “The Bus” is open to anyone for just $5.

Wolverine Warriors
As is the case with most big tailgates you see as you wander around the main tailgating lots, a little friendliness could get you invited into anyone’s tailgate. Located at the southwest corner of Stadium and Main by Pioneer HS, the “Wolverine Warriors” tailgate is no exception.  Parking passes are required in their area, but if you walk through the lot, just look for the large maize and blue “Wolverine Warriors” banner and make some new friends!

Go Blue Homecoming Tailgate
Every year at Homecoming,  the US Alumni Association hosts a huge pregame bash in Oosterbaan Field House.  All are welcome; you don’t have to be a UM alum. The cost is $30 for UM Alumni Association members, and $40 for non-members. An endless amount of food and beverage is included, along with VIP guests and a performance by the UM Marching Band. Visit the University of Michigan Alumni Association website for updated information and to order tickets.

Student Tailgating
Along State St. from South University to Hoover Ave., and along Hill St., you will walk by lawns of apartments and fraternity/sorority houses crawling with college students, grilling burgers and playing beer pong. If you are up for reliving your college days, you should have no problem getting invited in for a beer or round of corn hole.

  • 2 hours before kick-off: Michigan Stadiumgates open (premium seating ticket holders are permitted entrance 2.5 hours before kickoff).
