One hour and 15 minutes before scheduled kick-off, the Hawkeye Marching Band performs a pregame concert inside of the Recreation Building, located just to the northwest of Kinnick Stadium across Stadium Drive. The cheerleaders and Herky Hawkeye also join in for the show. The Hawkeye Marching Band Drumline performs a “warm-up” outside the Recreation Building, 30 minutes prior to the concert. Before the concert begins, the crowd is treated to “Bones & Tones,” a small ensemble cheer group consisting of baritones and trombones. The atmosphere is very informal, but be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in the bleachers rather than on the ground on the track, as bleacher seating is very limited. Tip: Hit the restrooms inside the Recreation Building before heading into Kinnick Stadium.
