University of Illinois

Aside from finding the perfect place to park, you need to be prepared with all of the up to date tailgating rules, traditions, and, of course, food and drink! Tailgating at the University of Illinois is roomy, laid back, and gives the feeling of being at a big, back yard pig roast; people bring in bails of hay to sit on around the firepit, while pigs and other meats roast in giant smokers. Tailgating is permitted on all campus parking lots.

  • Tailgating is allowed on all campus football game day parking lots.
  • Personal tailgating tents and awnings must be 10’x 10’ or smaller, and must fit within the boundary of one designated parking space.
  • No saving parking spaces.
  • Designated hot charcoal disposal is provided in all lots.
  • No open fires (covered fire pits are allowed).
  • No political banners.
  • No inflatables.
